Mrs. Hildebrand's Kindergarten Classes
Reading HOMEwork
The most important homework you can do with your child is read 20 minutes every day with your child. Discuss the book, the pictures, the characters, and the events will help your child with comprehension skills. A great way to complete this is using Bedtime Math website or ap, as well. Your child benefits from hearing you read and attempting to read text that is at an appropriate reading level for them. I send home a monthly calendar for you to record time your child spent reading with your child. Our goal for each month is 300 minutes.

EXAMPLE of first homework:
please practice saying their phone number.
please practice tying their shoes.
please practice saying their birth date.
please practice writing their first name three times.
please practice counting to 20.
please practice saying their address.
please practice draw a picture and label picture with one sight word
and the first sound of the picture (write "the c" for a picture of a cat).

We will send home an Choice Board each month as optional homework. Thank you so much for your help in your child's education.

Our day goes by very quickly so there will be unfinished work sent home with your student. Please keep it and feel free to finish it with them if you would like. I do not need it back and hope you enjoy seeing what your amazing children are working on.

We participate in the Pizza Hut Book It program and it gives your child an opportunity to earn a free personal pizza from Pizza Hut . We love our sponsor but we truly hope that you and your child get so much more out of reading together each night. More information about the program can be found here: http://www.bookitprogram.com/
